Houston Aggie Women have celebrated two ‘firsts’ in 2011: 1) following the example of the Reveille Club by giving our first donation checks to TAMU student organizations, benefitting women at A&M (they are listed below), and 2) our first sold-out luncheon that filled the room to capacity with a fabulous energy.

Texas A&M Women’s Leadership Conference - November 5, 2011
The primary purpose of the annual Texas A&M Women’s Leadership Conference, is to advance the learning and the empowerment of Texas A&M’s women by equipping delegates with effective leadership theory, as to better understand and shape their circles of influence and concern. We hope to help them achieve this by developing a strong, supporting network of female leaders, both amongst current and former student leaders, to promote intellectual and physical resource support. http://wlc.tamu.edu
Every good Ag has a story. Here is ours:
Houston Aggie Women began informally in 2007 when several Aggie women just sought to have lunch together. Today, Aggie Women are gathering to help other Aggie Women in Houston. We meet regularly on the 2nd Tuesday each month at 11:30 a.m. at Maggiano's Little Italy, 2019 Post Oak, in the Galleria. It is all about building relationships for all stages of an Aggie Women's successful professional and personal journey. Join us for friendship, networking, and resource sharing.
The Reveille Club found that many women were unable to make their Thursday morning networking events as many women had school age children. They were seeking a way to reach out to more Aggie women and thought that a lunch time networking group might be the answer. So, we started Houston Aggie Women as a subset of Reveille. We have Aggie women from multiple graduation years (70's - present) attending the luncheons. The "more seasoned" Aggie women are able to help the younger women by offering career guidance, friendship, networking and even job opportunities.
Houston Aggie Women receives full support of the Reveille Club and they are committed to helping us make this work. Houston Aggie Women has been an amazing experience. We reach out not only to Aggie Women, but to all women in the Houston community. Our philosophy is twofold - 1) the Aggie network has an extensive reach, even those who did not graduate from A&M have connections to our beloved University, (it is often humorous how women will introduce themselves, say where they went to college and then start telling us how many ways they are connected to TAMU), and 2) we open our hearts and our arms to those "non-Aggies" who would like to be a part of our network for spreading the Aggie way (our Aggie Code of Honor, our support for each other, and our love of each other) is part of who we are as Aggies.
A group member's personal story:
I would also add that I had a gentleman come up to me at our April luncheon and thank me. His office is right across the street from Maggiano’s (where our luncheons are). I usually send out invitations to our luncheons to my personal address book. In one of my e-mails, I mentioned that the luncheons were hosted by Houston Aggie Women, but that everyone was welcome to attend, including non-Aggies and men. That was the nudge this fellow needed to attend a luncheon when he saw a speaker that he really wanted to hear.
